NLN Journal Publishes ICIRN's Essential Nursing Resources

ICIRN Releases 24th Edition of Essential Nursing Resourcesin NLN's Nursing Education Perspectives

September 20, 2007 — New York, NY — The newest edition of Essential Nursing Resources, a wide-ranging list of bibliographic sources will soon be available through the National League for Nursing, a member of the Interagency Council on Information Resources in Nursing (ICIRN), which updates the list biennially. The 10-page survey of print, multimedia and electronic sources to support nursing practice, education, administration and research in the field will be published in the current issue (Vol. 28, No. 5, Sept/Oct 2007) of Nursing Education Perspectives, the NLNs respected peer-reviewed journal. Essential Nursing Resources is also be accessible through the NLN website: www.nln.org/nlnjournal/index.htm.

"Presented as a service to those who need to locate and gather information on a variety of topics affecting the practice and teaching of nursing," said Dr. Joyce Fitzpatrick, the editor of Nursing Education Perspectives, "the list points to pathways for exploration and expands the range of sources beyond traditional references." Reflecting emerging trends and concerns, categories new to this edition are: Alerting Services/Blogs/RSS feeds; Consumer Health/Patient Education; Informatics; Public Health/Disaster Preparedness; and Patient Safety. In all, 19 broad categories are included, giving readers a window into traditional and new media sources of contemporary and archival data.
