W.K. Kellogg Foundation to Help Strengthen the Voice for Nursing Education with Major Grant to National League for Nursing
Two-Year Funding Set to Enhance NLN Infrastructure and Communications with League Members

New York, NY — December 11, 2009 — The premier member organization for nurse educators teaching across the educational spectrum, from LPN to doctoral programs, the NLN has taken the lead in many areas that enhance and empower the nursing profession. League initiatives and programming promote excellence in nursing education to build a strong and inclusive nursing workforce.
In announcing the grant, NLN CEO Dr. Beverly Malone thanked the Kellogg Foundation for recognizing the NLNs steadfast commitment to inclusivity and excellence and its key role in meeting the nations health care needs. "These funds for the NLNs technological infrastructure will usher in an era of enhanced communications and more sophisticated programming and services."
The two-year, $395,000 grant, "Strengthening the Voice for Nursing Education," will provide operating support for the NLN specifically targeting IT infrastructure (including disaster preparedness), program analysis (exploring expansion of professional certification program to adjunct and part-time faculty), and NLN Testing Services (facilitating and improving the assessment and evaluation process).
"We aim to be an even more proactive organization, responsive to our members and to the health issues facing our country. With this infrastructure investment, the NLN is positioned to succeed for years to come," said NLN president Dr. Cathleen Shultz. "We are so grateful to the Kellogg Foundation for sharing this vision and investing in our future."
