Academy of Nursing Education Selects Fourth Class of Fellows

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, NY — June 18, 2010 — The National League for Nursing will induct 19 new fellows representing 17 schools of nursing throughout the United States into the Academy of Nursing Education, the League announced today. Induction will take place during the NLNs Annual Education Summit, set for September 29 - October 2 in Las Vegas. This distinguished group will join the 86 fellows, who, since the academys establishment in 2007, have proudly borne the ANEF credential.

Selection is competitive. This years Fellows Review Panel considered many applications before making its recommendation to the NLN Board of Governors, the oversight body for the academy. Evaluations take into account applicants contributions to innovative teaching and/or learning strategies; nursing education research; faculty development; academic leadership; promotion of public policy that advances nursing education; and/or collaborative educational, practice or community partnerships.

Fellows are chosen for their sustained and significant contributions to the field of nursing education, noted NLN president Cathleen M. Shultz, PhD, RN, CNE, FAAN. "We are proud of the visionary leadership these fellows represent. They serve as important role models to anyone aspiring to make a difference in nursing education, and ultimately to the delivery of health care in the United States," she asserted.

The NLN established the Academy of Nursing Education to foster excellence in nursing education by recognizing and capitalizing on the wisdom of outstanding nurse educators. Fellows support the mission of the NLN to promote excellence in nursing education to build a strong and diverse nursing workforce. They assist in the work required to prepare graduates from all types of nursing programs and serve as resources for new educators and those in clinical practice who hope to someday enter the ranks of nursing faculty.
