NLN Content Featured in Virtual Simulation Product from Laerdal Medical and Wolters Kluwer Health

vSim for Nursing/Medical-Surgical™ Based on Curricular Content Developed by the National League for Nursing

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, DC, February 12, 2014 — The introduction of vSim for Nursing was an occasion of great excitement among nurse educators gathered at the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) last month in San Francisco. The innovative product line, co-developed by Laerdal Medical and Wolters Kluwer Health, was formally launched with vSim for Nursing/Medical-Surgical, featuring 10 virtual patient simulation scenarios and other curricular content based on Complex Care Medical-Surgical Scenarios (Volume 1) developed by the National League for Nursing.

"The League is pleased to have contributed to this critical new product," said NLN CEO Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN, on January 27, the day of the launch. "By working collaboratively, we better prepare nursing students for the ever increasing complexity of nursing practice and at the same time address the shortage of clinical placements."

vSim for Nursing/Medical-Surgical includes online interactive virtual simulations with integrated curriculum resources, pre- and post-simulation quizzes, and guided reflection questions. "Building on the NLN cases," said NLN president Marsha Adams, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF, "students gain confidence and competence through repetitive, deliberate practice."

Designed for use throughout the nursing program, vSim for Nursing
Medical-Surgical is available for individual purchase or institutional sales to nursing schools. It is sold as part of Lippincott CoursePoint, a total course solution that includes integrated course content and adaptive quizzing, or as a standalone product.
