Marketing Communications Associate

GENERAL SUMMARY

Reporting to the chief communications officer, the marketing communications associate supports the marketing and PR activities that the Marketing Communications Business Unit performs on behalf of the NLN, the Centers for Nursing Education, business units, and the League’s various constituencies. The marketing communications associate works closely with all the communications department staff, handling a wide range of editorial, research, digital marketing, social media, website design, and administrative tasks.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLS

   Marketing Communications/Media Relations

  • Proofreading/copy editing all public documents for all NLN departments
  • Researching and maintaining various media lists
  • Monitoring press clips and creating clip books for distribution to boards, etc
  • Collaborating with other staff on Summit activities
  • Assisting with project management of marketing/communications projects
  • Collaborating with digital marketing manager to strategize and oversee promotion of professional development activities (events, webinars, etc.)

     

    Social Media

  • Ensuring all corporate social profiles are properly claimed, optimized, promoted, and managed
  • Keeping employees updated on evolving technology, trends, and tools
  • Demonstrated creativity and documented immersion in social media
  • Understands social media universe including YouTube, StumbleUpon, Digg, Reddit, Flickr, forums, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Tumbler, LinkedIn, Google+, Wikis, and blogs
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization
  • Optimizing tags on feeds, sharing sites, andsearch engines through copywriting, creative, and keyword optimization
  • Creating and updating daily, weekly, and monthly reports
  • Collaborating with other staff on Summit activities
  • Assisting with project management of communications projects
  • Managing CCO’s Twitter account

 
Website and Design

  • Assist creative director on daily data entry and web tasks via a content management system
  • Run monthly web reports
  • Manipulate graphics in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for use with email blasts

Qualifications

  • College Degree
  • 3+ years web/social analytics tools experience
  • 2+ years of PR/marketing experience
  • 3+ years of experience with social media platforms
  • Strong communications skills
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with colleagues and various constituencies
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively with attention to detail, knowledge of standard MS Windows applications, experience with Facebook and other social networking tools
  • Ability to use Google Analytics and HootSuite
  • Basic HTML, CSS, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and InDesign skills a plus
