Washington, DC, December 2, 2015 - As the National League for Nursing takes the lead to advance interprofessional education and practice, its 2016 NLN Leadership Conference will be devoted to this topical theme. Interprofessional Practice: Co-creating Transformative Environments will bring together leaders and experts in the field February 4-6 at Emory Conference Center Hotel in Atlanta.

Collaborative practice today is a necessity for maximizing patient outcomes in our complex, dynamic health care environment. So affirmed the Institute of Medicine, the World Health Organization, and six national associations of health professions schools, which came together to form the Interprofessional Education Collaborative.

In addition to keynoter Malcolm Cox addressing “Current IPE Practices in Healthcare Programs: Shifting the Focus,” featured speakers include:

	Barbara Brandt, PhD, assoc. vice president for education and director of 1Health initiative, Academic Health Center at the University of Minnesota
	Elizabeth Speakman, EdD, RN, CDE, ANEF, co-director of the Jefferson Interprofessional Education Center and assoc. prof. in the Jefferson School of Nursing at Thomas Jefferson University
	Salvatore Tagliareni, PhD, international business consultant and author
	Janice Brewington, PhD, RN, FAAN, chief program officer and director, NLN Center for Transformational Leadership.

Throughout the three-day conference, in plenary sessions, panel discussions, and breakout workshops, conferees will gather to:

	Identify how collaborative leadership creates a positive environment for interprofessional education.
	Explore strategies to encourage and support collaborative behavior; implement situational decision-making; and value diverse thinking to foster collaborative practice.
	Engage in courageous dialogue to reflect and consider ways to co-create a positive organizational culture that promotes collaborative practice.
