NLN Foundation Advances Nursing Education on the
Global Day of Giving
Washington, DC, November 13, 2018 — The NLN Foundation for Nursing Education has once again joined the Giving Tuesday movement which occurs on November 27. It is held annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the US). On this day of giving we harness the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate global generosity.

This year, the NLN Foundation aims to raise $25,000 from #NLNGivingTuesday efforts. We will call to action long time and new supporters of the NLN through social media, engaging the NLN Ambassadors as well. All funds will directly support the NLN Foundation's nurse educator scholarships and other important programs that promote excellence in nursing education. Collectively, these programs advance the health of our nation and the global community. Individuals and organizations interested in participating can: donate money online or via mail; donate their time by visiting the NLN Advocacy Action Center; and donate an #UnSelfie. The NLN Foundation plans to enhance engagement and help supporters spread the word to their respective networks with ready-to-send messages about the importance of providing financial support for the future of nursing education and the impact of #NLNGivingTuesday.

"As the NLN celebrates 125 years of nursing education leadership, Giving Tuesday is the perfect opportunity for supporters to help us make history and contribute to another 125 years of shaping the health of our nation. Your gift shows your commitment to investing in our industry's future — a future of leaders in nursing education. Investing in the next generation of nursing educators is paramount to the continuation of our passion for addressing the nursing faculty shortage," says NLN CEO Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN. NLN Foundation for Nursing Education Board of Trustees chair, Cole Edmonson, DNP, RN, FACHE, NEA-BC, FAAN, remarks, "Every day, the life of a patient and their families are impacted by a nurse. Making a donation to the NLN Foundation on Giving Tuesday not only supports nursing education, it helps bridge the gap between our education and practice colleagues."
