The nursing education community will be guided by the National League for Nursing's unique glittering North Star: Purpose, Power & Passion, the theme of the NLN's 2019 Education Summit, September 26–28, at National Harbor's Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center just south of Washington, D.C. Participants will learn how the League's exceptional past has served as the foundation for its innovative present, which points the way toward a transformative future shaped by the NLN's unwavering dedication and commitment to excellence in nursing education.
The comprehensive three-day conference provides nurse educators with opportunities for collaboration, professional development, innovation, scholarship and service. "I look forward to personally welcoming colleagues, friends and associates to National Harbor for the 2019 NLN Education Summit," said NLN President G. Rumay Alexander, EdD, RN, FAAN, professor and associate vice chancellor/chief diversity officer at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Dr. Alexander will offer her Valedictory Address on Saturday morning during the National Faculty Meeting, followed by the inauguration of NLN President-Elect Patricia Yoder-Wise, EdD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, ANEF, a professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and president of The Wise Group. In addition, "Participants will meet key influencers, experts and leaders in nursing education who will inspire them to incorporate newly learned content into nursing education programs across the nation," said NLN CEO Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN. Pre-Summit Workshops on CNEA prep are offered Thursday. Summit participants can also earn up to 16 continuing education credits by attending the entire event. First-time Summit attendees are encouraged to attend "Navigating the Summit," a special welcome and orientation session on Thursday afternoon, just before the official opening session. The concurrent sessions are listed at the 2019 Summit's dedicated microsite for participants to select what they'd like to attend, based on individual needs and interests. In addition to the Summit site, a wealth of information will be made available on the popular Summit app when it launches. From the veteran educator to neophytes, there will something for everyone.
