Washington, DC, May 6, 2019 —
As National Nurses Week kicks off, the National League for Nursing has launched a social media campaign and website landing page to raise awareness of the many ways that the league supports students, nurses, nurse faculty, deans and directors of nursing programs across the spectrum of higher education, and leaders in nursing education.
With more than 40,000 individual and 1,200 institutional members that include community colleges, four-year baccalaureate and master's colleges, and doctoral-granting/research universities, the NLN's reach is considerable. Tens of thousands more follow the NLN's activities through social media, making the NLN a powerful champion for nursing education. "We wanted to take this opportunity to showcase how the National League for Nursing works to advance excellence in nursing education to build a strong and diverse nursing workforce prepared to deliver outstanding, inclusive, culturally sensitive patient care in today's sophisticated, dynamic health care environment," said NLN President, G. Rumay Alexander, EdD, RN, FAAN, professor and associate vice chancellor/chief diversity officer at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Added NLN CEO Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN, "As patients and their families may show their appreciation this week for the nurses who have touched their lives, the National League for Nursing wanted to join the chorus. The League honors the vital role nurses play, often as first responders to acute emergencies and in helping manage chronic health conditions, particularly in underserved communities where access to medical care may be limited."
