| National League for Nursing Welcomes New Fellows Class into the Academy of Nursing Education

Seventeen distinguished nurse educators have been selected for the thirteenth class of fellows to be inducted into the prestigious National League for Nursing Academy of Nursing Education. Along with previous classes, academy membership now totals 302. These leading nurse educators teach in a range of programs across the spectrum of higher education and are affiliated with leading teaching hospitals and other organizations committed to advancing the quality of health care in the United States and globally.
Following tradition, the induction ceremony will take place at the Honors Convocation Saturday evening, September 28, during the 2019 NLN Education Summit at National Harbor just south of Washington, DC. In a competitive application process, the Academy of Nursing Education Review Panel has a great deal to consider before recommending fellowship candidates to the NLN Board of Governors, the oversight body for the academy. Evaluations take into account applicants' contributions to innovative teaching and/or learning strategies; nursing education research; faculty development activities; academic leadership; promotion of public policy that advances nursing education; and/or collaborative educational, practice, or community partnerships. G. Rumay Alexander, EdD, RN, FAAN, NLN president and professor and diversity champion at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, praised the 2019 fellows, saying, "On behalf of the National League for Nursing Board of Governors, I congratulate each of these outstanding individuals. They represent the building blocks of enterprise, creativity, and drive that undergird the foundation of excellence in nursing education. We applaud their critical role in preparing nursing school graduates to deliver sustainable, accessible, culturally-relevant and adjusted care to a diverse patient population, which advances the health of the nation and the global community." The Academy of Nursing Education fosters excellence in nursing education by recognizing the wisdom of outstanding nurse educators.
