NLN Foundation Advances the Cause of Nursing Education on the Global Day of Giving
Washington, DC —

The NLN Foundation for Nursing Education joins the global philanthropic movement Giving Tuesday, set this year for December 3. Giving Tuesday is held annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving in the United States. On this global day of giving, the nursing profession harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate global generosity.

To achieve the annual fundraising goal of $270,000, the NLN Foundation hopes to raise $50,000 from #NLNGivingTuesday and end-of-year fundraising efforts. All funds will directly support the NLN Foundation's nurse educator scholarships and other important programs that promote excellence in nursing education. Collectively, these programs advance the health of our nation and the global community.

Individuals and organizations interested in being champions of the cause can:

The NLN Foundation plans to enhance engagement and help supporters spread the word to their respective networks with ready-to-send messages about the importance of providing financial support for the future of nursing education and the impact of #NLNGivingTuesday.

"Giving Tuesday is the perfect opportunity for all supporters to help us make history and contribute to shaping the health of our nation. Your gift shows your commitment to investing in our industry's future - a future of leaders in nursing education. Investing in the next generation of nursing educators is vital to addressing the nursing faculty shortage," said NLN CEO Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN.

NLN Foundation for Nursing Education Board of Trustees Chair Cole Edmonson, DNP, RN, FACHE, NEA-BC, FAONL, FAAN, said, "Every day, the lives of patients and their families are impacted by a nurse. Making a donation to the NLN Foundation on Giving Tuesday not only supports nursing education, it helps bring together education and practice colleagues in innovative ways to improve the health of communities."
