National League for Nursing Named goDCgo Silver Employer Ambassador

Recognition Reflects League’s Contributions to Helping Make Life in the District Healthier & Greener
Washington, DC — The National League for Nursing has joined the organizations and businesses in the nation’s capital working to make living and working here greener and healthier, becoming a Silver Employer Ambassador for goDCgo. An initiative of the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), goDCgo encourages the use of sustainable transportation to decrease congestion, improve air quality, and create a better quality of life in the D.C. area, recruiting employers committed to its mission.

“Guided by the National League for Nursing Core Values—Caring, Integrity, Diversity, and Excellence—the staff have strategically implemented cultural changes in their working environment to significantly improve work/life balance and become a D.C. transportation leader. This goDCgo honor belongs to the staff at the League for their remarkable team spirit and success,” said Patricia S. Yoder-Wise, RN, EdD, NEA-BC, ANEF, FAONL, FAAN, president of the NLN and professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and president of The Wise Group.

NLN CEO Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN, said, “At the National League for Nursing, we take great pride in having earned the goDCgo Silver Employer Ambassador badge for offering transportation benefits and creative program incentives to help make the District of Columbia one of the healthiest, greenest, and most livable cities in the United States.”

Over the past three years, the National League for Nursing has created a benefits package that reimburses staff for utilizing public transportation and incentivizes car-pooling and other alternatives to individual automobile commuting by offering subsidized parking. Moreover, senior staff organizes staff-wide retreats, bimonthly meetings and brown-bag lunch sessions to prioritize inclusivity and empowerment in the workplace, which are two key elements in employee job satisfaction.

As a Silver Employer Ambassador, the National League for Nursing may take advantage of a host of transportation resources and other support services offered through goDCgo and will be recognized at the 2020 Employer Ambassador Awards Ceremony in April. Complete information about goDCgo and the Employer Ambassador program may be found at godcgo.com.
