| Washington, DC —The National League for Nursing has announced the selection, through competitive application, of this year's two cohorts for its yearlong professional development program in the NLN Leadership Institute. A total of 43 nurse educators and nurses in practice have been chosen to participate in one of two institute tracks:
Each program represents a significant investment in leadership development over the course of the calendar year. Participants identify personal and professional goals; learn about what makes an effective leader; and strategize how to retool skillsets and experiences to achieve individual benchmarks. To that end, everyone receives intensive one-on-one executive coaching. In addition, they attend online and live group coaching sessions, retreats and webinars, where they study leadership theory and development that includes case study review. The 2020 cohorts had their first face-to-face meeting at a joint orientation program, February 10-11, in Washington, D.C. They will also participate later in the year in an Intensive Leadership Retreat at the League’s office. They will next reconvene at the 2020 NLN Education Summit: Master of Teaching - Art of Leadership, September 23-25 at the Hyatt Regency Orlando in Florida. “The National League for Nursing prides itself on setting a high bar for participation in the Leadership Institute, and every year, the selection committee is impressed by the qualifications of the applicants. They are passionate advocates for promoting excellence in nursing education and practice today as well as for generations of nursing students to come, by collaborating with integrity to foster caring, inclusive environments for learning and achievement.” NLN CEO Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN, said, “These rising leaders and scholars in nursing education and practice are our partners, mentors and role models for faculty everywhere. Simulation educators will work with co-directors Drs. Sue Forneris, director of the NLN Center for Innovation Education Excellence, and Mary Anne Rizzolo, NLN consultant.
