Washington, DC — The National League for Nursing tradition of announcing new works of scholarship in time for the annual NLN Education Summit in September continues with the publication this year of two new titles by the NLN Press. The new 2020 NLN Press publications include:
- Critical Conversations (Vol. 2): Moving from Monologue to Dialogue, authored by Drs. Susan Gross Forneris and Mary Kohl Fey:
A continuation of the exploration began in Vol. 1 of this series, Critical Conversations: The NLN Guide for Teaching Thinking, Moving from Monologue to Dialogue focuses the discussion on operationalizing best practices with teaching/learning strategies in nursing education for the NexGen nursing student. Volume 2 breaks down the 3-part conversation into Context, Content, and Course and embeds how dialogue is used to deliver contemporary neuroscience teaching strategies. The goal is the intent to move educators forward from the use of monologue to dialogue.
- Simulation in Nursing Education: From Conceptualization to Evaluation (third edition), edited by Dr. Pamela R. Jeffries:
Updated from the previously published volume in 2012, this classic text for simulation educators replaces seven chapters from the second edition with entirely new content and modifies the remaining chapters in order to bring simulation educators up-to-date with the pace of change in this specialized field of nursing education.
“The National League for Nursing is dedicated to thoroughly preparing nurse educators for their specialized advanced role and to encouraging all nurse educators, be they in academic or clinical settings, to engage in lifelong learning, keeping up with the most current scholarship available,” said NLN President Patricia S. Yoder-Wise, RN, EdD, NEA-BC, ANEF, FAONL, FAAN, Professor and Dean Emerita at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and president of The Wise Group.
NLN CEO Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN, said, “These new additions to the NLN Press canon are essential texts for every nurse educator interested in taking their knowledge and experience to the next level.”
