| Washington, DC — The National League for Nursing Education Summit will return live in 2021, with its annual three-day conference set for September 23-25 at the Gaylord Hotel at National Harbor near Washington, D.C. This year’s theme, Leading and Teaching Beyond Resilience, reflects the dramatic impact on higher education during a pandemic lockdown that challenged even the most expert faculty, deans and scholars in nursing education.
Presentations, lectures, interactive workshops and networking events will address lessons learned and transformative educational strategies developed to meet the current and future needs of nursing education. Attendees will have the opportunity to tailor their individual Summit experience, choosing from among eight distinctive learning tracks. All are sure to inspire innovation, collaboration, and connection for nurse educators at every level, from novice to veteran, to achieve and sustain excellence in classroom, clinical/simulation curriculum, research and instruction.

Tim Raderstorf, DNP, RN, has used multiple platforms, from TED talks to textbook writing and editing, to encourage and empower those on the frontlines of health care to transform patient care and health outcomes.
As the first nurse in higher education to hold the title of chief innovation officer, he takes pride in educating the world, from his perch at The Ohio State University College of Nursing in Columbus, on the role of the nurse as innovator. At the college, Dr. Raderstorf is also an assistant professor of clinical practice in the Master’s of Healthcare Innovation Program.
Outside of academia, two other positions of significance he occupies are head of academic entrepreneurship at the Columbus-based Erdos Institute, a professional development and industry placement service for PhDs in scientific fields, and chief operating officer at NursesEverywhere, a voluntary nonprofit coalition of health care leaders and innovators, based in New Orleans, that advocates for universal access to quality nursing care to improve health equity and public welfare.
Throughout his career, Dr. Raderstorf has founded a number of successful business ventures, specializing in innovation in health care and health professions education. Among these is Innovation Studio, a makerspace that democratizes innovation, providing every interprofessional team that pitches their innovation with the funding, tools, and mentorship needed to turn ideas into actions. In 2019, Innovation Studio won Non-Profit-of-the-Year Award in the Columbus, Ohio, Business First competition. A year later, Dr. Raderstorf was inducted into the group’s 2020 Class of 40-under-40 Fellows.
His new textbook, co-authored with Dr. Bernadette Melnyk, Evidence-Based Leadership, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Nursing and Healthcare: A Practical Guide for Success, was a #1 new release on Amazon, and named the American Journal of Nursing’s Management & Leadership 2020 Book of the Year. Another of Dr. Raderstorf’s professional recognitions includes the Early Career Innovator of the Year Award and honors as a Distinguished Recent Alumni by Ohio State.
