NLN President & CEO Dr. Beverly Malone Honored Among Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare

This is the fifth time in the past decade that Dr. Malone has been included in this elite annual ranking of top health care executives, medical professionals, policymakers, and leaders in the government, and business and nonprofit sectors.

“I am so pleased to have my work on behalf of nursing education honored in this way, but I feel as always that this important recognition is not just for me. This award is also for all the nurse educators across the country who are teaching nursing students how to become excellent nurses,” said Dr. Malone. “I proudly share this honor with our dedicated Board of Governors, our wonderful professional staff and the many, many National League for Nursing members who serve on our committees and task forces. They also share their knowledge, experience, and scholarship for a wide range of programs and initiatives that advance excellence in nursing education.”

“Dr. Malone has demonstrated visionary leadership and ironclad devotion to preparing the nursing workforce to deliver outstanding, inclusive and equitable care to diverse patient populations and communities in today’s challenging and ever evolving health care field,” said NLN Chair Kathleen Poindexter, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF, assistant dean of undergraduate programs and faculty development at Michigan State University, College of Nursing. “On behalf of the Board of Governors, we are proud to congratulate her on this most deserving recognition for her tireless work for nurse educators and the National League for Nursing.”

In releasing the list of the 2021 100 Most Influential People, Modern Healthcare’s editor, Aurora Aguilar, said, “Last year's complexity is reflected in our 2021 Most Influential People in Healthcare honorees. The year was dominated with vaccines that promised a return to normal. But that treatment faced ire and rejection from some, creating divisions in communities and even the health care workforce. Meanwhile, the financial sector threw around its weight in health care, causing some pushback from the industry and regulators who say private equity and venture capital's goals conflict with health care's mission. Still, there's no denying that new players affected the business of health care in 2021.”
