Dr. Malone Lauds Prestigious Awards Program for Recognizing Importance of Nursing Education to Health Care Equity

Washington, DC — Modern Healthcare, a leading publication in the health care field, has once again chosen Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN for a coveted spot on the magazine’s list of 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare. Since 2015, Dr. Malone as the president and CEO of the National League for Nursing has been consistently included in this elite annual ranking of 100 top health care executives, medical professionals, policymakers, and leaders in government, business, and the nonprofit sector.

“I am extremely gratified to have my work on behalf of the National League for Nursing recognized among such illustrious company. Most importantly, I applaud Modern Healthcare for spotlighting the role of nursing education in advancing equitable access to quality health care in the United States and around the world,” said Dr. Malone. “I also note, with pride, that I share this honor with our outstanding professional staff, dedicated Board of Governors, and the hundreds of committed League members throughout the country who serve on committees and task forces and contribute their wisdom, experience, and scholarship to an array of programs and initiatives to advance excellence in nursing education.”

In congratulating Dr. Malone, NLN Chair Kathleen Poindexter, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF, interim associate dean of academic affairs at Michigan State University in Lansing, said, “It has been a privilege to work with Dr. Malone, where I can observe her keen leadership and unflagging determination to transform nursing education to best meet today’s dynamic, complex health care challenges. If the last several years taught us anything, it brought home the vital need for a frontline nursing workforce prepared to deliver outstanding, culturally sensitive care to a vast diverse, vulnerable patient population.”

In releasing the list of the 2022 100 Most Influential People, Modern Healthcare Editor Mary Ellen Podmolik said, “The past year had been one in which disrupters turned into major players and industry leaders raised their voices to effect change within their organizations and the broader community. Our 2022 ranking of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare recognizes these individuals who are transforming a major sector of the nation’s economy and are focused on improving care and payment models.”

This year marks Dr. Malone’s sixth Modern Healthcare honor over the past decade, including achieving Top 100 status in the three most recent annual rankings. In January 2020, Modern Healthcare also named Dr. Malone one of five inaugural Minority Healthcare Luminaries. A year earlier she was chosen one of the Top 25 Women in Healthcare, also following two consecutive years on the list of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare.
