NLN Nursing EDge Unscripted Podcast Earns Honorable Mention in 2023 PR Daily Nonprofit Communications Awards

Annual Honors Celebrate Excellence in Strategic Thinking, Creativity & Innovation

Washington, DC — For the second consecutive year, the National League for Nursing has earned national recognition in the prestigious PR Daily Nonprofit Communications Awards, hosted annually by Ragan Communications. The NLN Nursing EDge Unscripted won Honorable Mention in the Podcast category.

“We are so honored that the National League for Nursing was once again included in these prestigious awards. Our podcast was chosen from among worthy nominees submitted by organizations and associations to celebrate best practices and successful communications channels created by nonprofit staff and leaders,” said NLN Chair Patricia Sharpnack, DNP, RN, CNE, NEA-BC, ANEF, FAAN, Dean and Strawbridge Professor at the Breen School of Nursing and Health Professions at Ursuline College in Ohio.

NLN President and CEO Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN, said, “We are incredibly proud of the team that makes possible the production of this unique communications asset. The NLN Nursing EDge Unscripted, produced by Michelle Moulton and Andrea Browning, has succeeded in establishing a forum for the fruitful exchange of ideas and has proven to be a valuable resource for the wide community of nurse educators the NLN works to serve.”

Hosted by the NLN Center for Innovation in Education Excellence, the podcast offers three distinct tracks in an ongoing series of Unscripted Conversations: Scholarship, Surface, and Saga. Listeners are invited to navigate the how-to of innovation and transformation in nursing education while embracing the exceptional and interesting in contrast to the mundane and mediocre.

Unscripted Conversation Scholarship celebrates the published work of select nurse educators from the pages of the League’s peer reviewed scholarly journal, Nursing Education Perspectives, as well as from the NLN Nursing EDge blog and the NLN Center for Innovation in Education Excellence. The authors’ individual perspectives on teaching and learning innovations and the implications for nursing program development are covered in these lively exchanges.

Unscripted Conversation Surface pairs two nurse educators who chat about their adventures in the trenches of academia to share specific challenges and moments of vulnerability that may surface at the novel edge of innovation. The conversations seek to unpack avenues to transcend challenges and reveal ways to grow and thrive as educators operating within the context of the National League for Nursing core values of caring, integrity, diversity and inclusion, and excellence.

Unscripted Conversation Saga details journeys through the history of nursing education, featuring stories that connect the past to the present to a vision of a future that reimagines teaching and learning.
