National League for Nursing President & CEO Honored for Transformational Leadership in Nursing, Nursing Education & Public Health
Washington, DC — Modern Healthcare, the leading mainstream publication in health care, has named National League for Nursing President and CEO Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN to the prestigious ranking of 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare.
Dr. Malone has been repeatedly included in this elite annual list of the 100 top health care executives, medical professionals, policymakers, and leaders in government, business, and the nonprofit sector selected from a competitive field by senior editors of the magazine in consultation with a panel of knowledgeable insiders. Nominees are judged on qualities of leadership, contributions to the industry, and influence and impact in achieving positive, sustainable changes in public health, patient care, workplace culture, and health economics.
Among Dr. Malone’s most notable achievements this year, Modern Healthcare recognized her vision in several areas:
- Establishing innovative partnerships with allied businesses and organizations to provide resources and financial support for faculty development, scholarship advancement, and technological educational solutions
- Spotlighting threats to public health posed by gun violence and climate change
- Advocating for improved access to mental health services
- Promoting high academic standards in nursing education through program accreditation
- And instituting a cutting-edge flex work policy at the League’s offices to support an inclusive staff culture and improved work-life balance
“The 2023 honorees on our 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare reflect the providers, insurers, technology firms, government leaders, investors and others who have made oversized contributions to the industry in the past year,” said Mary Ellen Podmolik, editor-in-chief of Modern Healthcare. “Our ranked list honors the C-suite decision-makers using their clout and influence to lead their organizations and make sweeping changes that affect patient care.”
In congratulating Dr. Malone, NLN Chair Patricia Sharpnack, DNP, RN, CNE, NEA-BC, ANEF, FAAN, Dean and Strawbridge Professor at the Breen School of Nursing and Health Professions at Ursuline College in Ohio, said, “On behalf of the National League for Nursing Board of Governors, I applaud this well-deserved honor for Dr. Malone. Her passionate commitment to excellence, integrity, diversity and inclusion, and brilliant spirit of collaboration have been the driving force behind so many of the partnerships the National League for Nursing has forged with leading corporations, organizations, and health and hospital institutions to support nursing and nurse educators throughout higher education.”
“I want to express my thanks once again to Modern Healthcare for including me among the nation’s leaders in health care,” said Dr. Malone “This honor represents a tribute to the transformational work we endeavor to do at the National League for Nursing to benefit patients, their families, and communities worldwide throughout the year.”
Dr. Malone added, “To give credit where credit is due, I would not be in a position to lead without the extraordinary team beside me, including our volunteer leaders serving on the Board of Governors, the hundreds of nurse educators and scholars who contribute their time and expertise to numerous committees and task forces, and our small but mighty professional staff, who make possible the programming and resources so vitally needed to advance nursing education nationally and globally.”
