NLN Now Offers New Assessment-Based Certificate (ABC) Program, Boosting Professional Development for Nurse Educators

Program Launches with Five OnDemand Courses with Additional Modules in Development Covering Timely Topics, Like AI in Nursing Education

Washington, DC — Expanding ongoing online learning opportunities for nurse educators, the National League for Nursing has created an Assessment-Based Certificate (ABC) Program through the NLN Credentialing Department, which oversees all professional nursing education certifications offered by the League. 

The new ABC program, open to novice and veteran faculty, is being launched with five courses, covering topics of timely interest to nurse educators. Additional courses to certify master of artificial intelligence in nursing education, the role of a nurse on corporate boards, and more are currently in development and expected to be available within the coming weeks.

Separate certificates will be granted for successful completion of each course, demonstrated by passing the assessment administered at the conclusion of the course modules. Certificates will be available to print and digital badges distributed, once test scores are recorded.

Participants will also receive continuing education credits (CEs) with each certificate and digital badge earned. The courses vary between four and six modules and therefore in the time required to satisfy requirements for certification. The credits are applicable to the Renewal Credit requirements for renewal of nurse educator certifications.

The first five ABC program courses, all facilitated by experienced, expert thought leaders, are online now, with additional courses to follow:

  • New Nurse Educator Faculty Role: 5 Modules

                Facilitator: Judith Halstead, PhD, RN, ANEF, FAAN

    The New Nurse Educator Faculty Role Certificate Program provides learning opportunities for new nurse educators to learn more about introductory concepts of teaching and the role of the nurse educator

     

  • Teaching Online: 4 Modules

                Facilitator: Sharron Schlosser, PhD, RN, CNE, COI, ANEF

    The Teaching Online Certificate Program provides experiential learning opportunities for nurse educators to become online faculty or improve their online teaching

     

  • Preparing to Transition from Clinical Practice to Academia: 4 Modules

                Facilitator: Jennifer Coleman, PhD, RN, CNE, COI, ANEF

    The Preparing to Transition from Clinical Practice to Academia Certificate Program provides learning opportunities for nurses interested in the opportunities and challenges of transitions from expert clinician to the role of the academic clinical nurse educator

     

  • PN/VN Faculty Development: 6 Modules

                Facilitator: Sharron Schlosser, PhD, RN, CNE, COI, ANEF

    The PN/VN Faculty Development Certificate Program provides experiential learning opportunities for nurse educators to improve their knowledge and skills as faculty in PN/VN nursing programs 

     

  • Communication and Language in the Boardroom: 5 Modules

            Facilitator: Samantha Beaver, MA and Nurses on Boards Coalition

The Communication and Language in the Boardroom Certificate Program provides learning opportunities for nurses to learn more about to how to use linguistic strategies in the boardroom
