The Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act (H.R. 728) reauthorizes the Nursing Workforce Development Programs at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) through the fiscal year 2024. Last month, both the House and Senate passed a bill to provide funding for the remainder of fiscal year (FY) 2019 for those government agencies whose funding was set to expire on February 15. Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) recently introduced S. 296, the Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act of 2019. S. 296 ensures more timely access to home health services for Medicare beneficiaries under the Medicare program.

Under the current Medicare and Medicaid structure, APRNs must find a physician to document that a face-to-face assessment has taken place, and have the physician certify the plan of care under the Medicare and Medicaid home health benefits. Read more...
