DOES YOUR SCHOOL RECEIVE FUNDING FOR YOUR NURSING PROGRAM?

The Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2017 (H.R. 959/S. 1109) reauthorizes or continues the Title VIII nursing workforce development programs at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Reauthorization will allow your school to continue to compete for funding in the form of federal grants for your nursing program. The Title VIII nursing programs give grants to schools to support nurse faculty production, prepare RN’s and APRN’s, increase opportunities for minority students, supports retention, as well as scholarships and loans to nurses who practice in a nurse shortage area after graduation.
Without reauthorization, the government may defund or worse eliminate the Title VIII programs. If your school currently is or has benefited from funding for your nursing program, then ask your Representative and your Senators to support the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2017.
