How to Improve the Health of your Learning Environment: Fostering Civility among Students and Faculty
Given the costs of incivility and disruptive behavior on patient safety, the role of nurse educators in developing professionals who can interact appropriately with their health care team members has perhaps never been more important. Yet, faculty members frequently express frustration about how to effectively deal with various difficult student situations, including how to address inappropriate student behavior. Additionally, sometimes inappropriate behavior exists among faculty teams that negatively impact the overall learning environment and runs counter to the professional behaviors we expect of our students.
