Title : Teaching Care of Older Adults: An ACE.S Workshop - Washington, DC

The NLN’s Center for Care of Vulnerable Populations has partnered with the Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute (PHI) to provide evidence-based training tools for practical nurse educators, using the NLN’s Advancing Care Excellence for Seniors (ACE.S) program and PHI’s coaching-communication skills.

Earn six contact hours in an ACE.S Gerontology Workshop Designed Especially for You.

Learn about interactive teaching strategies that explore the role of nurses through the eyes of the person served and identify aspects of self-awareness and self-management as core to effective gerontological nurses. Participants will leave the workshop with ideas about how to integrate coaching communication skills, ACE.S teaching strategies, and unfolding cases into the practical nursing curriculum to improve the quality of care for older adults and their caregivers.

PN educators will:

  • Increase their knowledge of coaching skills and ACE.S as a framework to teach gerontology.
  • Incorporate the provided resources into their daily practice and practical nursing curriculum.
  • Improve their ability to provide evidenced based clinical and simulation experiences to students in a wide variety of health care settings.
