Edmund J. Y. Pajarillo Nursing Informatics and Innovation Collaborative Endowment Fund

Overview

With its focus on informatics and innovation in the use of data analysis and health information technology, the Edmund J.Y. Pajarillo Fund opens new avenues for either scholarships or research grants to support the National League for Nursing and its members.

The multiple real-world applications of these research studies are urgently needed. Among the anticipated potential outcomes are:

1. a) Helping identify populations beset by chronic illnesses and facilitating their access to primary and preventative care
    b) Improving the privacy of and access to telehealth services from primary care providers for homebound individuals
    c) Developing point-of-care apps for nurses and other providers to access health data and resources.
2. Finding ways to increase integration of technology into live and online learning environment.
3. Spurring the development of novel roles envisioned for nurses and nurse educators.

Examples:

Developing and piloting independent or consultancy roles such as Health and Resource Navigator (HRN) to connect individuals and families to health and other community resources; Independent Chronic Disease Nurse Consultant (CDNC) and Chronic Disease Nurse Educator (CDNE) who partner with private practices, hospitals or community-based clinics; and Independent Nurse Peer Counselors (NPC) to mentor new nursing school graduates or aspiring nurse educators
