APEX Awards for Publication Excellence Honors NLN.org & NLN Member Update Newsletter

NLN.org Earns Top Honors with Grand Award for Most Improved Website

Washington, DC — The National League for Nursing proudly announces new honors from the 35th Annual APEX Awards for Publication Excellence, celebrating excellence in publishing by professional communicators.

NLN.org was named Most Improved Website as a Grand Award winner, the top category of APEX honors and one of only 100 winners that stood out from more than 1,100 exceptional nominations. Additionally, NLN.org earned an Award of Excellence for overall website. Deputy Chief Communications Officer Michael Keaton and Digital Marketing Manager India West were recognized for their roles in overseeing the relaunch of NLN.org last year, which was designed by Eyedea Design Studio with programming and implementation by Results Direct.

Congratulating staff on these significant accolades, NLN President and CEO Beverly Malone, PhD, RN, FAAN, said, “I am extremely proud of our communications team and all those on our staff who make vital contributions to our online and email content. The staff embody our core values of caring, integrity, diversity and inclusion, and of course, excellence. Most importantly, they understand that top notch communications are key to our success.”

NLN Member Update also earned an APEX Award of Excellence in the Newsletters—Electronic and Email category. Dr. Malone, Editor Leslie Block, and Deputy Chief Keaton earned recognition for their contributions to the League’s flagship member e-newsletter.

The yearly APEX competition is intense. A panel of industry leaders judge the entries based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and the success of each entry in achieving overall excellence and effectiveness in communications. With the number and quality of entries increasing year after year, this year’s APEX Awards proved to be the most competitive awards program yet.

The awards committee made a point to highlight the fact that winning entries are classic examples of creative ideas, imaginatively executed, regardless of budgetary, staff, or other organizational limitations. For more information about the APEX Awards, visit ApexAwards.com.

“Everyone at the National League for Nursing should take pride in these achievements, given how much they each contribute to the content of our newsletters and the website, keeping them up-to-date and fresh for our members and the global community of nursing,” said NLN Chair Kathleen Poindexter, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF, assistant dean of undergraduate programs at Michigan State University in Lansing.
