Planned Giving
Nurses are the most trusted professionals and are vital to any healthcare system. Their knowledge and abilities stem from the quality of their education, which is essential for the delivery of quality patient care and improving patient outcomes.
Consider leaving a legacy in nursing education through the NLN Foundation. One small sentence in your will or conversation with your financial advisor can make a lifetime of difference. Whether you have benefited from the services of the NLN or wish to ensure that future generations can benefit, your legacy gift to the NLN Foundation is an investment in our Mission.
Benefits of Planned Giving
- Make an impact that lasts for generations.
- Achieve substantial tax savings.
- Remain in control of your assets.
- Avoid the probate process.
- Take advantage of adjustable and customizable donation options.
Types of Gifts
Bequest
Retain full control and use of your estate during your lifetime and reduce your taxable assets by listing the NLN Foundation in your will or living trust. Contact the NLN Foundation to request sample bequest language and any necessary tax ID information.
Gift of Retirement Plans Assets
You can name the NLN Foundation as the beneficiary of your retirement account, such as a 401(k) or IRA, and receive a charitable deduction.
IRA Charitable Rollover Gifts
The residual of an IRA is an easy method of gifting the NLN Foundation, which can be done without an attorney simply by instructing your financial agent. If you are the owner of an IRA and are at least 70 ½ years of age, you may make a charitable gift directly from your IRA to the NLN Foundation.
Endowment Gift
A strong endowment is a necessity, not a luxury, for a thriving nonprofit organization. The NLN Foundation provides critical annual support for key programs like NLN research grants and the Scholarly Writing Retreat. Donors who make endowment gifts help ensure the long-term health of the foundation and future generations of nurse scientists.
Appreciated Property
Receive a charitable tax deduction and bypass capital gains tax with a gift of real property to the NLN Foundation. Consult with your tax advisor to determine the amount of any deduction you may be able to claim for a gift of real estate.

Legacy Society
With a planned gift to the NLN Foundation, you become a member of the Isabel Hampton Robb Society named for the
American nurse theorist, author, nursing school administrator, and early leader who helped to found the organizations that became known as the National League for Nursing in 1893.
Kindly let us know if you have decided to leave
a legacy in nursing education through a planned gift to the NLN Foundation.
