TruMerit - NLN Distinguished Emerging Nursing Scholar Award
Request for Applications
The 2025 award application period will open on February 24, 2025, and close on May 20, 2025.
The 2025 application period runs from Monday, February 24, 2025 until Tuesday, May 20th of 2025. Applicants will be notified by the end of July 2025 and awardees will be recognized at the NLN Summit in the Fall of 2025.
The NLN Foundation for Nursing Education and TruMerit™ (formerly CGFNS International) have partnered together to provide this awards program targeting post-doctoral career nursing education researchers. The Distinguished Emerging Nursing Scholar Award will select two $10,000 winners to recognize and encourage emerging scholars whose research has been dedicated to the advancement of teaching and learning in nursing education.
Eligible applicants must have completed their doctoral dissertations on any topic related to nursing education within two years of the award presentation date. They will have committed to the pursuit of a career in nursing education research intended to have a significant, measurable impact on healthcare education systems worldwide. Preference will be shown toward candidates from developing and middle-income nations.This award represents an investment in that human capital, designed to promote transformative excellence and reinforcing the scientific basis of nursing education.

Eligibility
Applicant must have completed their doctoral research dissertation within two years of the award application deadline.
Applicant’s completed doctoral research dissertation topic can come from any discipline with a dedicated focus on nursing education.
Applicants can be from any country in the world. Special consideration will be given to researchers from low- and middle-income countries.
Applicant must complete the application as listed on the NLN website.
Application Requirements
Each proposal must include the below content areas. Carefully review this TruMerit-NLN Emerging Scholars Award Rubric. Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
- Summary of the applicant's dissertation (Including: Summary, Statement of need, Research hypothesis, Literature review, Methodology, Results, Conclusions, and Implications for further research; Max. 10 pages)
- Statement from the applicant outlining the future trajectory of research (Including how the applicant plans to use the remainder of the funds to support new or continuing research; Max. 250 words)
- Recommendation from the dissertation advisor addressed to the NLN Foundation. (Max. 500 words)
Please note that there is not a specific application template, however, each application should attempt to follow the order of the checklist and use headings indicative of these requirements.
